Find out how we’re committed to ensuring our recruitment process is barrier-free and as inclusive as possible.
Disability Confident Employer
We’re proud to be a Disability Confident Employer, and are keen to encourage applications from those who feel they have a disability.
People or individuals with disabilities and long-term conditions who choose to apply under this scheme and best meet the minimum criteria for a role will go through to the next stage of the recruitment process. In cases of high application volumes, we may progress applicants whose experience most closely matches the role’s key requirements.
Communication with us
Let us know if you have any preferences or needs for how we communicate with you during the recruitment process. For example, communicating via email rather than telephone or if it would help having a single contact within the recruitment team to work with you. To arrange this, contact the recruiter listed at the bottom of your job advert or email [email protected].
Application
When applying for a role at FCA, you can either autofill our online application form with your resume / CV or manually complete the application.
We recognise completing our online application may present barriers for some candidates. We’re happy to discuss alternative ways to apply. Contact the recruiter listed or email [email protected].
Interview
If selected for interview, your recruiter will talk through the different stages of the process.
If your interview is virtual, our recruitment team will email a diary invitation and Microsoft Teams link. We can also do a pre-interview test run to check everything’s working.
If your interview is in person, our recruitment team will email confirming the date and time of your interview and the relevant office address, including a link to a map and directions. More on how to find us.
We’ll also explain who will meet you and where, your interviewer(s), what to expect, and anything to prepare in advance. We can also discuss any adjustments you might need and the accessible features of the location.
Interviews are usually 2-stage process which includes a competency-based interview with technical questions, and a final interview to discuss any remaining questions and opportunity learn more about the team, expectations, and whether the position is right for you. This may vary depending on the level of the role applied for.
In a competency-based interview, we'll ask questions about your career history and motivation, our values and core skills and technical questions related to the role.
When answering questions, we want you to understand how you handled a situation and worked through problems to reach a successful outcome. Give compelling, specific examples with detailed information.
We recommend structuring your responses with the STAR method, which helps create an easy-to-follow story with a clear conflict and resolution.
Where appropriate, your recruiter will explain what the technical assessment will consist of so you can identify any potential barriers and adjustments.
Contact us to discuss anything about the interview process, in particular any changes or adjustments that would make it easier and more comfortable for you to participate. Contact the recruiter managing the role or email [email protected].
Types of adjustments

We aim to support you with the adjustments you need where possible, and at each stage, so you can feel comfortable and can perform at your best.
Adjustments we can offer will depend on your individual circumstances and the role applied for. Possible adjustments could include:
- Relevant documents being provided in an accessible format eg large print, electronic versions.
- Interview questions / agenda to be provided in advance of interview.
- Extra time provision for assessments and interviews, as well as the opportunity to take pauses or rest breaks when needed.
- Accessible interview locations.
- A visual guide document to assist in finding the interview location or a link to test the software and set up for an online interview.
- Providing a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter or allowing you to have someone with you during an interview or firm visit.
