Reference Case Number: FOI8756
Freedom of Information: Right to know request:
I would like to know the number and value of mortgages with advances greater than £5 million.
I would like this data as a total for each of the last five years, with September 30th as year-end. If this is not possible then please use the year-end used internally by the organisation.
If you are unable to provide five years of data, please provide four years of data, otherwise please provide data for the last three years. If this is not possible then please provide data for the last two years.

This data represents the number of mortgage sales and total value of mortgage sales with advances greater than £5 million, as reported by regulated firms to the FCA through their product sales data.
The data is provided by year, with each year starting on 1 October and ending 30 September.
This data excludes business loans and second charge mortgages.
This data may be different from other data published by the FCA on mortgage sales due to resubmissions reported by regulated firms. In addition, there have been recent changes to the reporting rules on the scope and classification of mortgage sale transactions required to be reported to the FCA. ‘Internal product transfers’ were previously not reported to the FCA but are now reported and included in the data from April 2021. This means where a borrower under a regulated mortgage contract does not change lender but transfers internally to a different mortgage product, or renews their existing product, with no additional borrowing. As a result, the data provided for 2020-2021 is not directly comparable with the data before 2020-2021.
