Information on SMF roles - March 2024

I would like the FCA to provide me with a tally of the number of male and female SMF holders for all current approved UK insurance entities ;as per this table: List of UK Insurers - June 2022 (bankofengland.co.uk).

Please provide the following: 

• Number of male and female SMF1 role holders 
• Number of male and female SMF3 role holders 
• Number of male and female SMF4 role holders 
• Number of male and female SMF5 role holders 
• Number of male and female SMF20 role holders 
• Number of male and female SMF23 role holders 
• Number of male and female SMF24 role holders 
• Number of male and female SMF16 role holders 
• Number of male and female SMF17 role holders 
• Number of male and female SMF9 role holders 
• Number of male and female SMF10 role holders 
• Number of male and female SMF11 role holders 
• Number of male and female SMF12 role holders 
• Number of male and female SMF13 role holders 
• Number of male and female SMF14 role holders 

You are seeking information about the salutations of all SMF roles for UK-approved insurance entities.

We can provide the requested information, as below. Please note that individuals may use a salutation that is different to their gender self-identification. Further, there are several salutations that are gender-neutral, for example, Doctor, Captain etc., and in some instances the salutation field has been left blank.

We have excluded one individual with an SMF3(AR) involvement against one of the requested firms. This is because the individual is not an SMF at the requested firm but is an SMF at an Appointed Representative of the requested firm.

Please note the Society of Lloyd’s has two unique SMF designations which you did not request, and so they have been excluded from the data in the tables. The functions are SMF23a Underwriting Risk Oversight (Lloyd's) and SMF23b Conduct Risk Oversight (Lloyd's). Information about the role holder for these functions is publicly available on the Financial Services Register, if you require it.
