In reference to the data published by the FCA here Number of skilled persons reports commissioned in Q3 2023/24 (October – December 2023).

  1. How many of the four skilled person reports commissioned in the sector "general insurance & protection" were for firms with permission to trade as a general insurance broker (by this I mean a company selling non-investment insurance contracts)? 
  2. Of the total from question one how many were S166 reports and how many were S166A reports? 
  3. Of the total from question one what was the split between "dedicated supervision firm" and "portfolio supervision firm"? 
  4. Of the total from question one what was the split by Lots (as listed in figure 2 Number of skilled persons reports commissioned in Q3 2023/24 (October – December 2023) 

FCA response:

We can confirm that we hold the requested information and will respond to each question below. 

For question 1, all 4 firms in question have permissions for “Arranging (bringing about) deals in investments – Non-investment insurance contracts”. 

For question 2, all 4 reviews commissioned were for s166 reports, none were s166A. 

For question 3, all firms were in the Portfolio Supervision category.  

For question 4, 3 of the reviews were in Lot C and 1 review in Lot E.
