Freedom of Information: Right to know request:
On what date did the FCA become aware of each of the websites identified in the 146 warnings it issued on 8 October 2023? To the extent that it is not able to confirm this, please identify which of the 146 firms the FCA were aware of prior to 30 September 2023?
FCA response:
We can confirm that we hold the requested information, which is set out in the attached Annex A.
Please note we are not able to identify a precise date on which the FCA first became aware of seven of the websites listed in Annex A.
Further, we would also like to point out that the FCA was only able to take action in relation to these sites after 8 October 2023, when the regulatory regime pertaining to financial promotions was widened to include promotions relating to qualifying crypto assets.
