I am writing to request data on the number of dawn raids (i.e. the exercise of statutory powers of search and seizure by the FCA or law enforcement in connection with an FCA investigation on a without notice basis) conducted by the FCA.

We are aware of previous disclosures detailing this for 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 (only up to August).

Please provide these figures for each of the following calendar years:

- 2022;
- 2023; and
- 2024 (calendar year to date of response)

Per your request, we have interpreted “dawn raid” to mean the exercise of statutory powers of search and seizure by the FCA or law enforcement in connection with an FCA investigation on a without notice basis. The figures relate to the number of FCA enforcement investigations where statutory powers of search and seizure were used. There may be occasions where multiple powers are used simultaneously.

In addition to the above figures, in 2023 we used powers under Reg.69 of the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 to enter premises without a warrant and inspect on 10 separate days.
