The multinational tax fraud probe known as the 'Cum-Ex scandal' has prompted regulatory and criminal investigations around the world since it was first recognised in 2012.
I would like to know :
i) As of 24th January 2024, how many investigations in relation to Cum-Ex trades have been opened by the FCA? Please split into organisations/individuals.
ii)As of 24th January 2024, how many investigations in relation to Cum-Ex trades have been closed by the FCA with no action being taken? Please split into organisations/individuals.
iii)As of 24th January 2024, how many cases are currently under investigation by the FCA in relation to Cum-Ex trades? Please split into organisations/individuals.
FCA response:
We can confirm that we hold the requested information, and our response is set out below.
For part i), investigations have been opened into 14 firms and 11 individuals.
For part ii), cases have been closed with no action for 6 firm cases and 10 individuals cases.
For part iii), there are 3 firm cases and an investigation into 1 individual under investigation.
