Please provide information relating to ‘aggregate funds held in safeguarded accounts by electronic money institutions and payments institutions authorised and regulated by the FCA ’.

The total amount of safeguarded funds for Authorised E-money Institutions (AEMIs) and Small E-money Institutions (SEMIs) is EUR 20.8bn. The breakdown of aggregate funds is provided below:
- AEMIs – EUR 20,768,283,148
- SEMIs – EUR 17,244,530
Firms report this data on an annual basis according to their regulatory cycle. The data above captures the latest safeguarded amounts at the end of firms’ reporting period, correct as of 19/06/2023.
Payment institutions (SPIs and APIs) and agents are not required to submit such data in their regulatory returns therefore we do not hold this information.
