The table below sets out the breakdown of AIF001 and AIF002 filings by AIFM type:

We are unable to categorise the AIF001 submissions as per your request as the AIF001 does not request the above information.

However, we have further categorised the AIF002 submissions by ‘predominant AIF type’, which is a field within the AIF002 return (field 34A) with six options (as listed below); the results are provided in the table below: 

Please note that the figures included in response to Question 1 will not match the table above due to nil returns being submitted.

In 2022 there were 2899 and in 2023 there were 2836 unique AIFMs submitting reports. We have interpreted this request as covering all AIFMs that submit reports to us (as described above).

Please note that not all AIFMs as detailed in the response to Question 3 are included in the above breakdown. The reasons for this include the AIFM does not manage an AIF, or we did not receive an AIF002 submission from the AIFM in the corresponding period.
