Finalised Guidance: Consumer credit and coronavirus: additional guidance for firms

This guidance applies in the exceptional circumstances arising from the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and its impact on the financial situation of consumer credit customers.

On 19 November, we published updated guidance for firms on consumer credit and coronavirus which replaces this with effect from 25 November 2020.

Following a short period for comments, we have finalised our additional guidance setting out how firms should provide tailored support to consumer credit borrowers who have been granted payment deferrals under the current guidance and who continue to face financial difficulties, as well as those who experience payment difficulties as a result of circumstances relating to coronavirus after 31 October.

The additional guidance applies from 2 October.

Given ongoing uncertainties arising from the impact of coronavirus, the guidance will be kept under review and if circumstances change significantly, consideration will be given to any further measures that may be needed to support consumers during the ongoing pandemic.
