CP14/22: Guidance on the FCA’s registration function under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014

In this document we are asking for your views on general guidance we plan to publish on the exercise of our functions related to societies registered under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 (‘the Act’).

Summary of our proposals

The guidance sets out our approach to our role as registering authority and explains societies’ obligations and legal processes, and is aimed at making the registration process more transparent.

Who does this consultation affect?

  • societies registered or planning to register under the Act
  • it will be of interest to consumers who may be invited to acquire shares in a registered society

What will we do?

We will consider your feedback and publish our guidance in a Policy Statement later in 2014 or early 2015.
