FCA Innovation Open Day 2022

We held our Innovation Open Day in July 2022 which set out our roadmap for the future of our Innovation department and plans to support responsible innovation within the industry.

Our Innovation department’s ambition is to act as a key enabler for the delivery of the organisation’s strategy which seeks to reduce and prevent serious harm, set and test higher standards, and promote competition and positive change.   

During July's event we highlighted changes we have made over the last year and showcased how our innovation agenda will support the next generation of financial services. We also announced an upcoming Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Innovation Spotlight, shared our plans to set-up an innovation industry advisory panel and to pilot a new Policy Sandbox. 

We will also host an Authorised Push Payment Fraud TechSprint on 27-29 September 2022.

The Future of FCA Innovation 

Ravi Bhalla, Head of Innovation at the FCA, shares the vision and roadmap for the FCA’s innovation agenda. The session sets out that the Innovation department is in growth mode and makes a number of announcements demonstrating how it will evolve over the years ahead. 

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in FinTech Panel  

Georgina Philippou, the FCA’s senior advisor for the public sector equality duty, chairs a panel of industry leaders and practitioners for their insights on the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion within financial services.

Approach to Cryptoassets: Supporting Innovation 

Colleagues from the FCA’s policy, data and digital, and Regulatory Sandbox teams outline how the FCA is approaching cryptoassets, and the types of innovation support and firms we have supported to date. 

Technology Trends to Watch 

Two industry leaders give their insights on how technology is shaping the future of financial services and the trends they believe will define the next generation of financial services. 

Global Innovation 

The FCA hosts our regulatory peers from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the US Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) to discuss regulatory co-operation, and how regulators are approaching FinTech and RegTech innovation around the world. 

Algorithms and Regulation: A Cross-Regulator View 

Representatives from the Digital Regulation Cooperation Forum (DRCF), a body comprising of the FCA, Competition and Markets Authority, Ofcom and the Information Commissioner’s Office, set out the role of the DRCF and its recent work into algorithmic processing.
