If you want to search for an individual, find out whether a firm was previously authorised or see a firm’s full regulatory permissions, you should use the Financial Services Register.

This tool can't confirm whether Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) or Financial Ombudsman Service protection will definitely apply if something goes wrong. It's important you do your own checks to make sure the product or service meets your needs. You can also check with the FSCS and Financial Ombudsman to learn about the types of claims and complaints they can help with.

This tool is designed for consumers to understand if a firm has our permission to offer a financial product or service. We hold more information about firms that we haven't included on this tool. For example, published restrictions relating to crypto activities, historic fines, their right to approve financial promotions, and their ability to handle client money. You can find this information on the Financial Services Register along with information on individuals.

In addition, there are certain financial products which we don't regulate which aren't shown on this tool.
