New member appointed to the Consumer Panel

On 1 May 2018 Francis McGee begins his three-year term as a member of the independent Financial Services Consumer Panel.

Francis has a career spanning over 20 years in government, regulation and the financial services industry, and was most recently Director of External Affairs at StepChange Debt Charity.

Panel Chair, Sue Lewis, said “I am delighted to welcome Francis to the Panel. He brings valuable experience and knowledge of how financial services policy and regulation can affect individual consumers and small businesses. I look forward to working with him”.

Francis has been appointed following the departure of Liz Barclay, who left the Panel at the end of March 2018.

  1. The Consumer Panel is a statutory body under the Financial Services Act 2012.The Financial Services Authority originally established it in December 1998. The Panel advises the FCA on the interests and concerns of consumers.The Panel is independent. Its views do not represent those of the FCA.

  2. The Panel’s membership is drawn from a broad range of backgrounds with expertise including market research, law, financial services industry, financial inclusion, European Regulation, financial regulation, consumer advice, campaigning, communications, compliance and later-life issues.
