The technical issues that hit the computer systems of Ulster Bank, NatWest and RBS from 19 June 2012 affected their customers’ accounts and the processing of payments. The three banks affected by the technical problems are part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group.
Ulster Bank[1], NatWest[2] and RBS[3] have information about how the banks intend to deal with customer claims.
The banks have to refund any fees, charges or interest incurred by their customers for late or missed payments where the bank is at fault. This includes fees, charges or interest paid to a third party such as another bank.
If you have an account with another bank or building society and you have been affected by the computer problems at Ulster Bank, NatWest and RBS, you should contact your own bank or building society to find out how it will ensure you are not permanently out of pocket.

The cause of the technical problem has been resolved, with the three banks now processing payments as usual. However, a small number of Ulster Bank customers may still be affected.
