General insurance events – Live & Local 2018/19

From September 2018, we are offering a new series of events across the UK aimed at regulated general insurance intermediaries and general insurers. Online registration is required for each event.

Workshop: Regulatory update focusing on the extension of the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR) and the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD)

(up to 2.5 hours, open to regulated firms only)

As two of the key changes facing general insurance firms over the next year, this interactive workshop will help you better understand what the extension of the SM&CR and the implementation of the IDD mean for your firm in a proportionate way. We will use real-life examples and case studies that will put into practice our expectations and how they would apply to potential situations that your firm may face. We will also discuss other priority areas as set out in our Business Plan 2018/19 and Sector View.

Registration for the workshop is open to regulated general insurance firms. A registration fee of £85 per person will apply.

'Ask the regulator' Q&A roundtable discussion with FCA and industry panel

(1.5 hours, open to regulated firms only)

These sessions are an informal, open forum for general insurers and insurance intermediaries to ask questions, provide challenge and feedback to a panel comprising of a senior FCA representative and an industry expert. The aim of the roundtable sessions is to answer and discuss any regulatory questions or concerns that general insurance firms may have. Registrants are encouraged to arrive at the event prepared with questions or topics for discussion at the session.

The roundtable events are open to regulated general insurance firms only. There is no registration fee.

A look back at our Live & Local programme to date

It’s an excellent insight into the FCA objectives and proportionality

From April 2016 to June 2018, we travelled across the country holding a series of events aimed at retail investment, general insurance, mortgage and consumer credit firms.

  • we directly engaged with nearly 6000 firm representatives
  • we travelled to over 70 locations, revisiting each region more than once each year
  • 97% of attendees told us they were clearer about our expectations after attending a Live & Local event
